Dr. Gero Matouschek

Dr. Gero Matouschek is a senior practitioner in strategy-based transformations of insurance companies. He is a Partner at Strategy&, PwC’s global strategy consulting business, and is located in Munich. With more than 25 years of experience in strategy consulting, Gero serves as the European lead partner for digital transformations within the financial services practice at Strategy&, as well as the lead partner for insurance strategy within the PwC network.

His areas of expertise include:

• Strategy-based (digital) transformation
• Distribution strategy and transformations across all distribution channels (tied agents, brokers, bancassurance, direct)
• Growth strategies, for core insurance business (non-life, life) and beyond (e.g. wealth management, assurance banking)
• Organization, governance, operating models

• Embedded insurance strategy for insurance companies
• Embedded insurance strategies for non-insurance partners (e.g. mobility, wholesale, retail) incl. design, partner selection, set-up of partnership
• Bancassurance incl. partnership selection, cooperation set-up, go-life preparation management, scaling of partnership
• Corporate venture building and growth support (B2B2SME business model around credit insurance and factoring)
• Blueprint design for insurance merger, post-merger planning for insurance companies
• Target operations model for insurance company incl. digital innovations in operations, such as robotic process automation
• Regular execution of distribution benchmarking studies with leading insurance companies

Gero studied aerospace engineering in Germany (Universität Stuttgart) as well as France (ENSAE in Toulouse). He earned his PhD in Engineering (Dr.-Ing.) at the RWTH Aachen.
