After graduating from the University of Manchester with a degree in Economics, Nabil was thrilled to join our Strategy& team as a graduate Economic Consultant, putting the theory he learned at university into practice.
“I’m part of the Economics Strategy Consulting team and our primary focus is to advise clients in the public and private sectors. We provide them with insights and evidence to help inform their policy and business decisions. Recently, I’ve been working more closely on the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda, which I find really interesting.”
Here at PwC, we actively work to turn ESG theory into actions. We know that ESG is more than good intentions - it's about creating a tangible, practical plan that achieves real results and helping our clients to integrate sustainability into their company ecosystems. Getting involved in work like our ESG agenda is one of the aspects Nabil enjoys most about his role, as it allows him to make a real difference.
“One of my favourite things about working at PwC is the impact and influence that our work has on the lives of so many people. For example, I was part of the team that produced the Women in Work Index, which supports our aims to build an inclusive workplace in a net zero world. It was amazing to have contributed to something so meaningful.”
Working on high-profile projects was something that came as a surprise to Nabil - when he joined us, he had no idea of the impact he’d be making so early on in his career.
“I was really surprised - and pleased - about the responsibility I was entrusted with from the very start. There was a steep learning curve which was challenging, but also made the work incredibly rewarding.
I’ve received ample training and development during my time at PwC, which gave me a thorough foundation in Consulting and equipped me with the tools I needed to succeed in my role. This included in-person events such as the Consulting Essentials programme, and virtual technical training - for example, grounding in Excel and Econometrics.”
Our investment in training and development is just one way in which we support our people. We’re also dedicated to empowering them, giving our people more freedom to work in a way that works better for them, but also meets the needs of their teams, the wider firm and our clients. For Nabil, this flexibility means splitting his working days between our London and Manchester offices and his home.
“After graduating from Manchester University, I joined PwC’s London office. My wife is still studying in Manchester, so the empowered flexibility has allowed me to split my time between London and Manchester.”
Outside of work, Nabil dedicates much of his time to volunteering in the local community. “Together, my wife and I have been volunteering in community engagement activities in our local area. We hold empowerment workshops during the evenings and weekends - these are designed to help young teens to reflect on how they can have a positive impact on their community.”
Making a difference is something that is extremely important to Nabil - in both his work and personal life. His advice to anyone thinking about joining the firm would be: “If you want to be challenged everyday and carry out work which has real impact, PwC offers a great environment to be able to achieve this and develop as a professional.”
