Driven by adrenaline, risk, and bold choices, Fadi Arbid has carved an unusual path for himself – from consulting, to chicken shawarma, and hedge funds. Fadi is always curious and goes after various opportunities, guided by purpose and passion. “The outcome was never guaranteed, I had a lot of failures along the way.”
“Never be driven by money. Be driven by a purpose. Success will get you everywhere, and everything you want. If you want to be an artist, you succeed as an artist. And then obviously, financial success comes as a result. If you try, you shall prevail ultimately. It's about trying without getting knocked down forever.”
Fadi started off as a consultant at Strategy& ME, which taught him how to organize his thoughts and made him better at pitching to clients, he said. Two years later, he moved to Saudi where he joined Amwal AlKhaleej. Falling in love with the Saudi people, he decided to stay in Riyadh and start his own hedge fund, Amwal Capital Partners, which is yielding great successes.
Besides business, Fadi has a passion for contact sports. He enjoys the discipline and organization that the “gentle art” of Jiu Jitsu instills in him. He also loves that he shares this passion with his daughters. In fact, both he and his daughters participate in competitions, which allows them to get quality time, bonding over the shared love for Jiu Jitsu.
“Now, in a few months, we're going to celebrate a decade of the firm. We run about $1.7 billion. 80% of our money is institutional. The firm is owned by its team, we sold equity to our colleague who was a trainee, an intern back then. He is now an owner.”
