Motivated by curiosity, creativity, communication, and good food, alum Fares Akkad’s career has taken him on an exciting journey — from consulting, to makeup, to one of the biggest media and tech companies in the world. The common theme through it all? Making a positive impact on others.

“I’ve always had an interest in media, and I’ve always had an interest in technology, because they both have an underlying impact on people’s lives on a daily basis.”

Fares AkkadMEA Regional Director, Meta

Strategy& Middle East alum Fares started his career in consulting, which he says taught him analytical thinking and storytelling. He applied that expertise in the practice of telecom, media, and tech for several years, before moving on to the industry side when he joined the Middle East Broadcasting Corp (MBC). He then co-founded a startup – alongside other Strategy& Middle East alums – called Glambox, the first subscription-based, e-commerce beauty company in the MEA. He has since been on the board and advisor of many startups, a passion he carries to this day.

Watch the full interview to discover how his early curiosity in media and tech has shaped his career path, and has opened up a variety of opportunities around the world.
